The guests are gone, the dancing is over and the flowers have been dried . Your wedding was beautiful and amazing but you still have one job left, that’s preserving your wedding day images. So what do you do now with all those photos? For some of our DIY brides, they may have hundred of beautiful images sitting on a media storage device such as a cd, usb stick or even on a website.   When making a wedding photo book with hundreds sometimes thousands of photos to choose from, it may be a daunting task to make a photo book.

Thanks to our fabulous DIY bride and groom, Adam and Lindsay, and their amazing photographer, Wendy McElmon of Wendy McElmon Photography, they have made a wedding photo book that can be cherished for generations.

Lindsay was kind enough to give us a sneak peek into the making of her photo book.

3. How many images did you end up with?
Around 800-900
4.. How did you organize your images?
I organized them into categories according to what layouts I wanted to do – getting ready, ceremony, posed shots, golf shots (husband LOVES golf), family, dinner, dance, silly booth, etc.

5. Tell us a little about your experience building your photo book
I made 3 books for our parents and one book for ourselves.  The parent books are 10×10 and 26 pages.  Our book is 12×12 and 50 pages.
It was a wonderful experience!  The program itself online was very easy to use once I played around with it a little bit.  I had built yearbooks in the past for my schools (I’m a teacher) using programs with similar tools so I was familiar with the basics of using a program like this I guess.  I loved having the option of using a pre made template or making my own.  I had the freedom to make it exactly how I wanted.  Some other features I liked were the “use last style” for borders, unlimited undo, fill or fit to spread, and the fact that you could rearrange the pages by dragging and dropping.  I liked the reminders and explanations about the edge of the pages too.  That way, I kept making sure nothing too important was too close to the egde!  Another great thing about Adoramapix is the amazing customer service.  I had one tiny issue one afternoon and I couldn’t save what I had just done, so I emailed them and also wrote a little message on instagram.  Both my email and my instagram message were responded to within a few hours with apologies and an explanation that there was a server issue and all should be good to go now.  I appreciated the quick response and I also was glad that they had already found and dealt with the issue! When I ordered the first three books on a Saturday evening, it had given me a delivery date that was maybe 3 weeks away(I live in Eastern Canada).  To my surprise, all three books arrived within 5 days!  I was so happy to see them!  The quality is amazing – just what I wanted.  They look very professional! The packaging was also impressive – bubble wrapped, cardboard wrapped, and packed neatly in a nice big box.  Great experience!

6. What made you choose Adoramapix to make your photo books?
I am someone who likes to do a bit of research before doing most things, so of course I read a lot of reviews of different online DIY photo book programs.  I loved the fact that you guys had lay flat pages that looked nice and sturdy.  All of the reviews that I read had great things to say about Adoramapix!
7. Any advice for other DIY  brides?
Definitely sit down and organize your photos before diving in – know which ones you want to use.  Try not to choose too too many photos because I find the less crowded the better it looks.  Try and look online at many sample spreads and layouts for each category to see how you want to set your own up (if you’re starting from scratch).  Once you start having dreams about the layouts and spreads, it’s probably time to finish up and order the damned thing! haha And most impoartant – Enjoy the process!  Design therapy for sure :)  Thanks Adoramapix!
